Overnight Pirith Chanting Ceremony and Alms Giving held at BIA to Celebrate the 36th Anniversary of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited and the Thripitakabhiwandana Week.

Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka)Limited celebrated its 36th anniversary by organizing an all-night Pirith chanting ceremony at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on Friday, 22nd March 2019 and morning alms giving (Heel Dana) was held for 14 Buddhist Priests who chanted Pirith overnight on the following day. Further, this noble religious event was organized in celebrating the Thripitakabhiwandana week as the government has declared a week named “Thripitakabhivandana Week” from March 16 to 23 in view of the declaration of Theravada Thripitaka as a World Heritage.Sanghika-dana was organized for 36 Buddhist Priests and the eight monastic requisites (ata-pirikara) The ceremony was organized by the Buddihist Association of the company under the blessings of Maha Sanga and the directions of the Hon Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Arjuna Ranatunga(M.P.) and Hon. State Minister of Transport & Civil Aviation, Ashok Abeysinghe (M.P).
The religious event was a combined effort of all employees of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited and employees got engaged spiritually devoting their precious time and effort for this noble act. The main objective of the program was to receive the blessings of noble Triple Gems and Maha Snaga for the historical and successful journey of the AASL in the Sri Lankan Aviation Industry contributing enormously to the socio-economic development of the country.
The Hon. Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Arjuna Ranatunga (M.P.), Hon. State Minister of Transport & Civil Aviation, Ashok Abeysinghe (M.P), the Chairman of AASL Mr. Dammika Ranatunga, Vice Cahirman of AASL Mr. Priyantha Kariyapperuma,the Executive Director Mr. Sanjeewa Wijeratne and all the other senior officials of the Ministry,Members of the senior Management and Heads of Airport Aviation, employees of AASL and representatives of other agencies were present at the occasion. The office bearers of the Buddhist Association of the company namely,Mr. Nalin de Alvis (Vice President), Mrs. MalpethiRatnasinghe, Mr. Dinesh NandikaPerera (Joint Assistant Secretary), Mr.UdithaKuruwita (Joint Assistant Secretary), Mr. Kumara Galappaththi (Treasurer), Mrs.ShiraniMahagama (Assistant Treasurer), Mr.Ajith Kaluarachchi, Mr. Saman, Mr. Chinthaka Rajapaksha, Mr. B N A Ranjith, Mr. Dhanaraj, Mr. Nandana, Mrs. Nimalika Egodawatha, Mrs. Gayanthi, Mrs. Dilini, Mr. BuddikaRanasinghe, Mr. UdayaWickramarathne, Mr. Samantha, Mr. Athula, Mrs. Hiranthi Mr. Nishantha and Mr. Jayantha played a commendable role in organizing this noble event.
