CIVIL AVIATION TRAINING CENTRE TO GET A NEW BUILDING

Foundation stone for the new administration building of the Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC) at Ratmalana was ceremoniously laid by Hon. Piyankara Jayaratne MP, Minister of Civil Aviation on Thursday the 23rd February 2012. The Secretary to the Ministry, the Director General of Civil Aviation, Chairman- AASL and the Board of Directors were also present at the occasion.

Speaking at the occasion, the Minister emphasized the importance of Sri Lanka becoming a regional aviation training provider. He also mentioned about the government’s plan to make aviation careers affordable and reachable for the rural youth.

Chairman, AASL Mr. Prasanna Wickramasuriya stated that with the high quality training provided by the CATC, the Company is geared to contribute towards the dual vision of making Sri Lanka an aviation hub and a knowledge hub as per the five fold hub concept envisoned in the “Mahinda Chinthana Idiri Dekma”

The new building will house a modern auditorium, information resource centre, and state-of the-art equipped office space for the CATC to have a world class customer interface.

The construction project is totally funded by AASL and is scheduled to be completed within one year.

CATC is already having a growing international demand for its training. With the new facility it will be in a position to cater to this demand even more effectively.
