THE DIPLOMA IN AVIATION STUDIES PROGRAMME COMMENCES FOR THE 4TH INTAKE

The inauguration of the Diploma in Aviation Studie's programme for the 4th intake was held at the auditorium (1) of the CATC in the morning of 14th October 2014.

The newly enrolled students were ceremonially handed their letters of studentship and student record books at the ceremony. Parents of the students were also present.

Eng. Devinda Abayagunawardana, Chief Instructor in Electronics Engineering at the CATC who is the Programme Manager for the diploma, delivering the welcome address stated that the students have chosen the right time to follow the Diploma in Aviation programme at CATCbecause the industry is in great need of skilled supervisors andmiddle level managers from the younger generation and CATC will help in every manner in achieving that.

Speaking on the occasion, the Head of Civil Aviation Training of AASL, Eng. Athula Seneviratne stated that the aim of this programme is to fill the vacuum of young blood requirement of the aviation industry and AASL is happy to have contributed to the pool of national higher education opportunities.

This Diploma programme which is fast becoming an attractive industry qualification is of approximately eight (08) months duration and is delivered on full time basis annually by the CATC. The entry qualifications are G.C.E. A/L with a credit pass for English at G.C.E O/L. It grooms the participants for supervisory, junior executive and lower middle level managerial positions in the general trades of the aviation industry and its allied trades
