CATC produces another batch of Diploma holders in Aviation Studies

The 3rd intake of students of the Diploma in Aviation Studies programme conducted by the Civil Aviation Training Centre completed their programme successfully and were awarded their diploma at a ceremony held in the Auditorium of the Civil Aviation Training Centre at Kandawala Road, Ratmalana.


Mr. Ananda Wimalasena, Chairman, AASL was the Chief Guest at the event. Vice Chairman Mr. Sanjeewa Wijeratne and Executive Director Ms. Ruvini Dias Bandaranayake were also present at the occasion.


Welcoming the guests, Head of Civil Aviation Training, Eng. Athula Seneviratne stated that supervisory management is often taken for granted and there is a great need in every industry for people at that level.


Delivering the , Chairman Mr. Wimalasena highlighted the important role that can be played at operational level in every organization to curtail unnecessary expenditure and make savings. He stressed that authority to spend should always be accompanied by the responsibility to save.


Programme Manager for the Diploma in Aviation, Eng. Devinda Abayagunawardana presented the awardees to the Chief Guest. The students with outstanding performance were awarded medals.


The Civil Aviation Training Centre delivers the Diploma in Aviation Studies programme annually for youngsters who have passed the G.C.E. Advanced Level. The students are groomed to take up positions at supervisory and line management level in the non-specialized and general trades in aviation. AASL has recruited several diploma holders of past batches while some of them have been absorbed by airlines.


The Civil Aviation Training Centre is a full member of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS programme and is an emerging regional aviation trainer.
