AASL Conducted a ‘Career Development Program’ for G.C.E. (O/L) School Children

Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited organized a series of educational and career development programmes at the Bandaranaike International Airport on 30th, 31st July and 2nd August 2019 for the school children in the Gampaha District sitting the G.C.E. (O/L). Nearly 1000 students from fourteen schools participated in these programmes. 
Providing an opportunity for the school children to have an airport experience, educating the school children and the teachers on the career opportunities available in the aviation industry and motivating the school children to plan their future career achieving their goals were among the key objectives of the program. Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Hon. Arjuna Ranatunga M.P. was present at all these programmes and was a source of inspiration to the students. Delivering a motivational speech, he  highlighted the importance of always having a winning attitude in our minds. 

Along with this programme, an essay competition was launched encouraging the students to write an essay on the topic ‘the role of an airport towards socio-economic development in Sri Lanka’. The senior officials of Airport & Aviation Services and the Srilankan Airlines addressed the students sharing their life experience and educated them on the aviation industry and the future career opportunities. The students and the teachers got a rare and valuable  opportunity to study the airport operations and had the opportunity to visit an aircraft as well. 

Chairman AASL Mr. Dammika Ranatunga, Vice Chairman Mr. Priyantha Kariyapperuma, Executive Director Mr. Sanjeewa Wijeratne and Heads of Divisions of Airport & Aviation services were in attendance.
