Chongqing Airlines Launches Non-stop Flight Services to Colombo

Starting from December 28, 2018, Chongqing Airlines commenced direct flights to take advantage of non-stop scheduled three weekly services between Chongqing (Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport) and Colombo (Bandaranaike International Airport). The flights will be operated by modern Airbus A320 neo with three-class cabin configuration – Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class.

The flight departs from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport at 17:25 and arrives in Colombo at 21:10 local time. Then, the flight returns from Bandaranaike International Airport at 22:10 and arrives in Chongqing at 06:10(+1 day). The flight is scheduled on every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

With the opening of the first air route between Chongqing and Colombo, Chongqing airlines has connected Sri Lanka, a beautiful and fast developing island country in the Indian Ocean, and Chongqing, the largest municipality in southwest China. As Chongqing is the largest commercial and industrial center in southwest China, more cultural, investment, and tourism exchanges are expected to be brought to Sri Lanka via this route from Chongqing. Moreover, it is aimed to facilitate the exchanges and cooperation in all aspects between Sri Lanka and China. 

Chongqing Airlines Co. Ltd, based at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, was established on June 16, 2007, jointly by China Southern Air Holding Company and Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Co. Ltd. Restructured in March 2017, it has Xiamen Airlines Co. Ltd joined in as its third shareholder. With the help of shareholders, it is determined to develop into the flagship airline headquartered at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.

As of the end of 2018, it will be operating a fleet of 25 Airbus aircraft with a network covering Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Lhasa, Shennongjia, Colombo, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Phuket Island, etc. Supported by Xiamen Airlines and China Southern Airlines,it is building a more integrated network with its expanding fleet, strenuously providing more accesses for passengers and investments from China to Sri Lanka, even from the Developed East Asia, and endeavoring to become an outstanding partner for Sri Lanka.
