Beijing Capital Airlines Launches Direct Flights Between Beijing and Colombo

Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today welcomed the inaugural flight of Beijing Capital Airlines, marking the commencement of direct air services between Beijing Daxing International Airport and Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Colombo.

The newly introduced service will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays, enhancing air connectivity between China and Sri Lanka while offering passengers greater convenience and accessibility. The commencement of Beijing Capital Airlines’ operations further strengthens Sri Lanka’s international aviation network by providing travellers with increased choice and improved connectivity.

To mark the occasion, Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL) accorded the inaugural flight a traditional water cannon salute upon arrival, followed by a Kandyan dance performance organized by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau. In addition, passengers were warmly welcomed with Ceylon Tea gifts offered by the Sri Lanka Tea Board, reflecting Sri Lanka’s renowned hospitality.

The event concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting and the exchange of mementos. Advantis – Aviation Services, a subsidiary of Hayleys PLC, serves as the General Sales Agent (GSA) for Beijing Capital Airlines in Sri Lanka.
