Commencement of Scheduled Domestic Operations To Jaffna From Colombo International Airport, Ratmalana.

Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited (AASL) is proud to announce that  FitsAir, managed by FITS Aviation (Pvt) Ltd. commenced scheduled domestic flight operations between Ratmalana and  Jaffna on 1st of February 2020.


As a reputed pioneer in the aviation industry of Sri Lanka, since its inception in 1997, FitsAir offers premium passenger services in scheduled and charter flight operations in Sri Lanka. FitsAir commenced its operations between Colombo International Airport Ratmalana and Jaffna International Airport with an ATR-72. Initially, FitsAir will operate flights three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Accordingly, the flight schedule will be:

Departure from Colombo Airport, Ratmalana at 7.30 a.m. and arrival at Jaffna International Airport at 8.20 a.m. 
Departure from Jaffna International Airport at 9.30 a.m. and arrival at Colombo International Airport, Ratmalana at 10.20 a.m.


Accordingly With this commencement of domestic scheduled operations to Jaffna from Colombo Airport, Ratmalana, the Northern part of the country will be linked to the domestic civil air transportation network which can be considered a national achievement. A large number of native Tamil business personnel living in Colombo, especially in Bambalapitiya, Wellawata, Mount-Lavinia, Dehiwala will benefit this as they are willing to have frequent travel connectivity reducing their travel time on road. Further, this connectivity will help international tourists to make their trips to Northern destinations and thus, there will be a boost in tourism.  This initiation will explore the opportunities to capture a portion of the rapidly growing travel market in the Northern and Western parts of Sri Lanka. 


Under the direction of Hon. Prasanna Ranatunga, Minister of Tourism & Aviation and with the guidance of Major General (Rtd) G. A. Chandrasiri, Chairman of Airport Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited (AASL), the Colombo Airport Ratmalana will be developed under five main areas in the future:
•    International ‘Corporate Jet Operations’
•    Promote the airport as a ‘Domestic Aviation Hub’
•    Promote the airport as an Aviation Training Hub in the region
•    Promote the airport for ‘FBO & MRO Investments’ 
•    Promote the airport for international ‘Regional Airports Operations’
Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited (AASL) will take every possible step to encourage and develop the domestic civil air transportation industry.
