Aerodrome Control Course commences at CATC
 





 

CATC Sri Lanka commenced the Aerodrome Control (ICAO 052) training programme for a batch of 28 newly recruited trainee air traffic controllers today. This is the first aerodrome control course that will be conducted using the CATC's newly acquired 3D tower simulator.

Head of Air Navigation Services of AASL, Senior ATC managers from the ANS division and senior officers of the CATC were present at the inauguration.

The course will have an initial cognitive phase of 45 working days and thereafter the batch will take turns to receive training on the tower simulator. Several senior practicing air traffic controllers from ATC operations have been attached as instructors to the CATC to assist the Chief Instructor in Air Traffic Services.

On successful completion of the training at CATC the batch will be deployed at ATC towers at airports operated by AASL for on the job training. Thereafter they will be rated and licensed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka.

CATC is the only training organization in Sri Lanka that is approved by the Civil Aviation Authority to conduct ATC training. It is also a full member of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS programme.
