THE lucky draw for the first-ever Airport Shopping Festival, held at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), was conducted on 18th January 2011.

Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka ) Ltd. (AASL) Mr. Prasanna Wickramasuriya, together with AASL Deputy Chairman Mr. Kamal Ratwatte and other senior members of AASL drew the five winning coupons at the airport, which entitled the lucky shoppers to win total prize money of Rs.1 million.

The first prize winner will receive Rs.500,000 with Rs.250,000 and Rs.150,000 being won respectively by the second and third prize winners. The fourth winner will receive Rs.75,000 and the fifth winner Rs.25,000.

Names of the winners shall be declared soon.

The BIA Shopping Festival, which was held from 15th November 2010 to 15th January 2011, was organized by AASL for the very first time in collaboration with all the shops at the BIA Departure Lounge. The Primary aim of this festival was to promote the BIA as a preferred shopping destination given the dramatic rise of visitors to Sri Lanka.

This shopping festival was significant since it was the first shopping event coinciding with the theme 'Refreshingly Sri Lanka Visit 2011', organized by Sri Lanka Tourism. AASL plans to have more such seasonal promotions in the future to entice and attract the increasing number of passengers to shop at BIA.
