Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith returned to Sri Lanka today (27) and was greeted by Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne up on his arrival.

The new Cardinal was welcomed by a special ceremony that was organized at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) premises.

A large number of people had gathered at the airport and also on both sides of the road to welcome his eminence back to the country.

The Cardinal had been transported towards the Basilica of Our Lady at Tewatta, Ragama in a specially constructed vehicle.
