A program was organised at the Civil Aviation Training Centre at Ratmalana to commemorate the “International Air Traffic Controllers Day” under the patronage of Mr Prasanna J Wickramasuriya, Chairman, Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd.
The programme included a seminar on air traffic control, an exhibition on aviation related development in Sri Lanka, a visit to air traffic control facility at Ratmalana Airport and “Aviation General Knowledge Quiz”.
An Air Traffic controller plays an important role in ensuring the safe and efficient conduct of air travel throughout the world. In respect of their commitment to world aviation, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has declared 20th day of October as the International Air Traffic Controllers Day.
The Sri Lanka Air Traffic Controllers’ Association (SLATCA) which is the exclusive representative body of Sri Lanka Air Traffic Controllers is to join hands with their counterparts worldwide in celebrating this event.
